Infopower International (II) was incorporated as a non-profit organisation in Columbia Missouri in November 1996. It acquired its 501 (c) (3) status in 1998. The creation of II was in response to a rapidly changing global environment which continues to increase the proportion of the underclass population, as well as pose new challenges for development workers; challenges that extend across national borders. In addition to the realisation of these was recognition of some common denominators which characterise the nature of the oppression of underserved persons. These include; ignorance, a lack of skills, a lack of information, and insufficient awareness of the commonality and similarity of their experiences and its causes across the globe.
