Ingredient Happy was born out of a desire to encourage in children an understanding of the origin of food and an appreciation of healthy food. At the preschool level, children begin to form life long habits. We want healthy food to be one of them. We work with schools on a multi faceted level by offering food and garden science enrichment classes, after-school programs, workshops for teachers and parents on the importance of good early nutrition as well as designing and converting outdoor spaces into edible learning gardens. Our child-centric Food and Garden Science curriculum is designed with hands-on projects including seed, soil and worm studies, sprouting and growing, life of a farmer and many healthy cooking projects. Children who participate in our program will know how their food is grown, they will understand the difference between food that is natural and that which is processed and they will be more willing to try healthy natural foods. We feel that all children deserve this start.
