Founded in January 2020 in Timbuktu, IDSS Mali (Initiative pour le Développement et la Sécurité Communautaire au Sahel) is a local non-political, and non-profit NGO dedicated to reflections and actions on the community safety concerns and problems, local development and the promotion of peace and social cohesion in central and northern Mali.IDSS Mali aims at promoting local and participatory development through individual and/or collective initiatives. It aims at contributing to long-lasting peace, security sector governance and community safety across Civil Society actors, local communities and governments representatives in the regions most prone to violence and conflicts.Our vision:At IDSS Mali, we envision to strengthen local capacities of community members of all ages and ethnic groups including IDPs, returnees and host communities, more specifically women and young people to raise their voice and learn how to use it in a peaceful manner for the benefit of their local communities. We do believe that developing conflict resolution and humanitarian mediation skills among the conflict-affected communities and supporting local development is essential in promoting peace, reconciliation and preventing violence.Our values:In pursuing these objectives, IDSS Mali is committed to honour human rights and fighting for a dignified life for all. We strongly believe that one of the best ways to create a safer environment for all is through developing strong youths and community leaders that are committed to peace, security and sustainable development. IDSS Mali also believes in basic human rights and freedom for all, including freedom from violence and oppression.
