The Health Strategy Innovation Cell ("Innovation Cell") is an independent, not-for-profit thinktank based at Massey College in Toronto, Canada. The Innovation Cell mines and analyzes online conversations by patients and caregivers in public blogs, wikis, and social networks to produce specialized and public reports. The Innovation Cell was created on January 29, 2009 with initial seed funding provided by the Province of Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.The Innovation Cell has six research streams:* Listening to patient and caregivers' stories online to identify policy priorities* Conducting information vigilance during pandemics to mobilize and target scarce public health resources* Helping organizations use social media for quality improvement to improve the patient experience* Monitoring mental health conversations online and offering Web-based solutions to prevent harm* Building Web tools and organizing grass-roots events that inspire open, rapid collaboration and innovation to improve the patient experience* Comparing the effectiveness of healthcare interventions using Web analyticsAdvisory Board * Adalsteinn D.
