We are a small company based out of Toronto Canada that is trying to revolutionize the way we consume and spread our news. Our technology has fundamentally changed our social lives like never before. It's transforming our behaviours, shaping our opinions and fundamentally revolutionizing how we get our information. Are we really adapting well to this change?I don't think so.Over the past year I have looked closely at how we get our news, how it spreads, and how it's come to mould a lot of our opinions and feelings. As a Political Science student I've really come to realize that a lot of what we do, how we behave, and what we think really don't come from ourselves, but is a bi-product of what has been given to us online. What we consume isn't for our benefit but often times for the interests and profits of others. In the world of social media and news. This becomes dangerous. And this is why I decided to build InSite.I wanted to build a platform where people and their communities had power and control over their own news. A real-time events tracker where anyone anywhere can be a "journalist" and play a role in sharing news within a comprehensive and informative platform which considers fact above any individual or corporate bias. Using blockchain infrastructure, the platform not just creates a verifiable community base for news to flow and be validated under a completely decentralized platform, but monetizes video and news sharing through a cryptocurrency. Issues of centralization, targeted censorships, user data for profits and the general lack of transparency of information within both the news industry and the social media sphere are all existing problems that we have not yet been able to adapt to.This is a source for humanitarians to build awareness, for freelance journalists to tell a story and for regular people like you and me to inform ourselves of things we otherwise wouldn't know or even think about. We want to help provide InSite to the world!
