Instinct CBT is a neurodivergent-led practice which operates using neurodivergent affirming practices which incorporate brain-based integration with sensory-based integration to support individuals and their families to determine coping strategies for their lifestyle. Instinct CBT practitioners are led by the work of professionals such as: - Dr Ross Greene (Collaborative and Pro-Active Solutions and his world renown book "The Explosive Child"),- Mona Delahooke PhD (her world renown book "Beyond Behaviours")- Dr Daniel Siegal and Tina Bryson PhD (their world renown neuroscience work in "Whole-Brain Child")- Greg Santucci (prominent Occupational Therapist, working on sensory integration)- Kelly Mahler PhD (well known for her ground-breaking work in the field of Interoception).Tara Kent is the Director and Clinical Lead of Instinct CBT. Tara has previously worked as an Educator, Lawyer, Support Worker, Developmental Educator and currently still maintains Membership with the Developmental Educators Association Incorporated (DEAI) as an Allied Health Practitioner (Developmental Educator). Tara leads Instinct CBT's team of clinicians to work with individual's and their family's by incorporating information regarding topics often neglected by other professionals, such as:- Pathological demand avoidance (PDA).- Attention Deficit Based Disorder (ADHD).- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (which often accompanies ADHD).- Sensory-based dysregulation and balancing sensory input. We can also do full sensory profiles. - Brain-based integration and accessing upper brain, supporting neuroception and regulating brain integration. - Interoceptive awareness and interoceptive assessments.As an Educator herself who's diagnosed with ADHD, Tara has a particular interest in working with schools, children and families who are struggling with the impact of ADHD on the schooling experience.
