Research Assistant at Centre for Sociological and Anthropological Research
The Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade was established by the Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia. At the beginning of the 1960s, two scientific research units were established: the Centre for Demographic Research, and the Centre for Research of Public Opinion (later renamed as Centre for Political Studies and Public Opinion Research — the unit responsible for this project), as the first of the sort in Eastern Europe, as well as a Philosophy department. Today, thirty doctors of science and twelve masters of science work in the Institute in five units: Demographic Research Centre, Centre for Political Studies and Public Opinion Research, Centre for Economic Research, Centre for Legal Research, and Centre for Sociological Research.\According to the latest accessible analysis, from the late 1990s, authors from the Institute were cited the most in local journals in the field of social sciences. They take up the first six places among the 10 most cited and 11 out of 25 most cited, out of about 1500 active authors from social sciences and economics. The Institute is also the only institution in Serbia with more than one scholar with publications in journals from the ISI database.\The Institute has managed to realize significant research projects, among others, within the World Values Studies, in the fields of political culture, monitoring elections, public opinion, media, political propaganda, democracy and parliamentary practice, law and medicine, demography (population reproduction, migration flows, projections, population policies), economic aspects of privatization, corruption, sociological aspects of transition, poverty, political systems, political activism, social structure changes and study of ethnic relations.
