The Institute for Preservation of Arts and Culture, commonly known as IPAC, is a nonprofit social enterprise devoted to promoting and preserving traditional arts in Pakistan. It aims to preserve Pakistan's rich cultural and artistic heritage, and implements solutions to ensure its recreation and transmission. Our mission is "to preserve and promote the traditional art forms and cultural heritage of Pakistan."IPAC is registered as a not for profit organization under Section 42 of Pakistan's Companies Ordinance 1984.The geographical region that now comprises Pakistan has historically been home to a multitude of diverse musical forms. Each musical genre depended on unique musical instruments, dance sequences, lyrics, stories and lifestyles. Today, due to a variety of factors, this rich artistic and cultural heritage is almost at the brink of extinction. Traditional musicians can no longer support themselves through their art. Lack of support and prejudice are forcing musicians to give up their families' artistic traditions built over generations. IPAC aims to provide these artists an opportunity to engage with new audiences, sustain their livelihood and traditional artistry, and encourage their younger generations to follow suit. All of IPAC's activities revolve around preserving and sustaining our rich artistic and cultural heritage, with objectives to support traditional artists' livelihoods, deepen patronage towards these arts and building an information hub on traditional arts in Pakistan.
