2020/ 2021 President's Message Welcome to The Insurance Institute of Leeds. Taking on the role of President for 2020/21 I very much feel that I'm standing on the shoulders of giants. I've learnt so much from all of the presidents that I've worked with since re-joining the Council in 2015 and it is those individuals who have given me the confidence to take on the role myself. Since 2015 we've seen so many great new initiatives locally including the creation of the Leadership programme, Fast Track Diploma, Emerging Insurance Professionals Group and engagement with Schools and Universities. The Insurance Institute of Leeds has gone from strength to strength and I can't wait to see how it develops next.It would be fair to say that so far 2020 hasn't turned out quite as I expected due to the global impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Despite the less than normal transition into my new role the lockdown has made me think deeply about all of the things that I might usually take for granted. I know that we have a long way to go before we see all of the implications for the future but I am truly grateful for my health, the safety of those that I love and the security that most of the roles in our sector provide. I've also watched the Insurance Institute of Leeds Council rise to the challenge of continuing to provide Educational and Social Content for our members. I think after the worst of the effects of this situation are over there will be a lot of things we can learn from for the future.Although we will have to adapt and change our programme for the year I'm confident that we'll still be able to provide our members with a varied and excellent range of events. Please get in touch with us with any ideas you might have – the more engagement we have with our members the more varied we can make things for you!
