Prior to its sale in 2008, Intelliflix was the 3rd largest online DVD subscription service behind Netflix and Blockbuster. With customers in all 50 states, the company provided the best value in DVD subscriptions according to Consumer Reports and NBC New York. In addition to its company-owned fulfillment center, Intelliflix developed and deployed its proprietary technology to integrate the inventory of franchise, multi-site, and independently owned video stores into its website on a real-time basis. After software deployment, each retail store became a fully functioning distribution center which provided the company a strategic advantage over competitors by being able to scale in both facilities and inventory without any additional cost. At its peak, Intelliflix had more than 100 distribution centers across the United States. In 2005, the company launched 24 Hour Video Stores; an online platform for video retailers to offer their own movies-by-mail program through their store-owned and operated website. This unique platform provided a complete sales and marketing solution for stores that would otherwise be unable to transition into an e-commerce driven entity. This equipped the retailer with a 24/7/365 conduit to its customers who could now purchase, rent, or subscribe directly with their local hometown video store. In contrast to traditional DVD subscription services, the customer could enjoy immediate FastPass in-store pickup or have them delivered by mail with some stores offering same-day home delivery.
