Toyia A. Mays, Kansas City luxury interior designer, was born and raised in the tough streets of the south side of Chicago. Her first passion was Fashion Design after she designed her first piece as a senior in high school. Though Toyia had a passion for the Arts, she went on to study Computer Science at Chicago State University. This journey lasted 2 years until she realized that CSU had a Fashion Merchandising major, her expression of the Arts had returned.Toyia made a living throughout the next 10 years designing and making everything from children's clothes to formal wear. In 2007, Toyia got married and moved to Fargo, ND, with their daughter, where her husband attended NDSU. Moving to another state where fashion was somewhat overlooked and having the responsibility of a family proved to make it difficult to continue garment making. It is here where the Interior Design world had started to appeal to her.In 2008, Toyia's husband Joe, was drafted to the NFL and they were on the move again. Since 2008, Toyia and her family have lived in 5 different states all over the country. They have travelled to different countries and this has allowed Toyia to hone her artistry as a top interior decorator. The expression of Art comes from the inner understanding and connections to the Universe. Her designs are always a fusion of where she has been and where she wants to be. Toy A Mays believes that there is Art in everything! Her passion exudes from everything she does and everything she touches. From garment making to Interior design, creativity flows with each process. As her life and experiences continue to alter & evolve, so does the evolution of her Artistry.
