Hospital & Health Care - Mapleton, Maine, United States
The mission of the ICA is to elevate the standards of dementia-care. All individuals who choose dementia-care as their profession, or who suddenly find themselves having to provide dementia-care to a loved one, should experience pride in their work, joy in what they do, and be rewarded for their commitment to providing a positive experience to each and every care recipient. The vision of ICA is to support and augment knowledge in the practice of caring for those living with Alzheimer's, at home or outside the home; to ensure the best and most powerful practices in care no matter the nationality, language, color, religion, or creed of the care receiver; and to form long lasting relationships that are supportive, understanding, and professional for all providers in dementia-care. Whether the care provider is a doctor, nurse, aid, geriatric manager, dementia coach, activity director, social worker or family caregiver/pack leader – all are welcome here. The ICA revolves around a simple idea: the universal need to support and augment knowledge in the practice of providing care to those with life-changing conditions and diseases requiring long-term assistance or care. Our philosophy is to connect elements of care and practice, confront and address problems in dementia-care, encourage interprofessional healthcare teams that include family caregivers, and help the profession of caregiving develop genuinely well-informed care professionals.
