The Center provides training and coaching for line staff, mid-management, and command staff in use of force law, application, and liability reduction systems. The Center provides an online library of use of force incidents, outcomes, cases and case law, research, statistics, and policy and procedure recommendations. The Use of Force Institute works to dissuade, minimize and potentially eliminate excessive use of force incidents through research and evaluation of departmental polices, procedures and training curriculum. The Institute provides qualified coaching, and curriculum designed to prevent excessive use of force, while empowering and equipping law enforcement professionals with the knowledge, tools, and resources to properly manage any critical situation. The Center and Institute have evaluated trends, causation and contributing factors to over 30 years of excessive use of force incidents, and have applied the associated findings to the development and implementation of a systemic and sustainable solution, designed to rapidly reduce excessive use of force, and the disparate impact it has on the community.
