Political Organization - Saint Andrews, Scotland, United Kingdom
The Year of Interfaith Dialogue sprung from a radical idea hatched by Professor Mario Aguilar and some of his students at the University of St Andrews in the spring of 2014. We sought to start a conversation that spread from our little corner of Scotland to the farthest reaches of the globe, and distinguished ourselves by focusing on the celebration of our faith differences over the failed endeavour to find areas of religious overlap. Our mission was to espouse conversation about a common humanity strengthened by our diversity.Throughout 2015 and 2016, we aimed to explore the notion of our common humanity through various lectures and events, culminating in a conference on the weekend in September 2016 where a host of religious, diplomatic and community leaders signed our St Andrews Declaration on a Shared Humanity.
