City Government/Municipal Government - Charlottesville, VA, US
International Neighbors is an all volunteer led grassroots organization, working locally in Charlottesville, VA since 2015. We strive to provide a network of support services, people and opportunities that fosters a path to independence and self sufficiency for our resettled refugee neighbors. International Neighbors offers a variety of programs and services that connect the greater Charlottesville community to their less integrated, often isolated neighbors- who comprise 6% of our city's population. Included in that percentage are SIVs (Special Immigrant Visa holders) who worked alongside United States military during the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Charlottesville, VA is home to over 220 SIV families, and these Iraqi and Afghan neighbors struggle to attain the American Dream which they helped to defend. International Neighbors of Charlottesville offers volunteer opportunities for people of all ages and interests...everyone can be a great neighbor!
