Food Production - , England, United Kingdom
Formerly known as the International Pesticide Application Research Centre, IPARC has focused on application methods for smallholder farmers. We emphasise practical and cost-effective techniques to manage pests, while reducing the use of chemical pesticides and promoting the efficacy of natural processes and alternative biological agents. Originally based in Berkshire, England, IPARC scientists have carried out pesticide research, based at Silwood Park for nearly 60 years, often associated with trials in other countries. It has specialised in the needs of small-holder farmers, application techniques for migrant pest and vector control. With a continuing need to improve application in light of the increased importance of Integrated Pest Management and food security, we intend to promote a network of capable scientists in this field. IPARC is a World Health Organisation (WHO) collaborating centre, and its activities have been endorsed by the Pesticide Evaluation Scheme (WHOPES).
