Founded in 2010, Interstitial functions as space between the studio and the commercial gallery for artists to explore ideas related to the creation and consumption of new media. Throughout its 8-year lifespan, the Interstitial team developed and produced performances and exhibitions that were sited within its project space in south Seattle, as well as other galleries and institutions across the region: Bridge Productions, SOIL Gallery, Henry Art Gallery, Seattle Art Museum, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival. Interstitial also participated in Shunpike's Storefronts program in 2013 by activating 17,000 sq. ft. derelict showroom in downtown Seattle for a period of 3-months. Interstitial was founded in 2010 by Kira Burge and Julia Bruk. In 2018, then curatorial director Julia Greenway sunsetted the program and closed the gallery and project space in Seattle.
