Nonprofit Organization Management - Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
Welcome to the West of Scotland Branch, which is the oldest and largest of the Scottish Branches. We represent over 1,700 members who generally come from the West of Scotland mainland and the Western Isles. Stretching from the Scottish Borders to as far north as Oban and who work for a large variety of organisations. Our activities include meetings every month from September to May, except December. We also occasionally organise special events that are described at their own link. We have four groups that represent the principal areas of interest of our members. We also occasionally publicise events of other IOSH branches, including IOSH Scotland and also other like-minded organisations. The West of Scotland Branch collaborates with the other four Scottish branches to run the IOSH Scotland committee. This brings the branches together with the IOSH professional staff, IOSH Council and Board of Trustees, to provide synergy to the work of the branches in promoting IOSH in Scotland and also link in with the Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland (PHASS) network. Every year, the West of Scotland Branch awards Certificates of Merit to individuals who are considered to have made a major contribution towards health and safety in their workplace. Find out more about this award and nominate for the Certificate of Merit 2020 We believe one of our key duties is to encourage members to develop their professional profile by achieving Chartered membership of IOSH. Members are assisted through the Initial Professional Development (IPD) process to achieve Chartered status.
