IQ was founded in 1997 by the NBFAA (now ESA) to raise the security industry's professionalism, improve alarm installation quality standards and provide consumers with a way to identify alarm companies that are committed to excellence. IQ is endorsed by ESA, CSAA, SIA, CANASA, SIAC and FARA.The program is based on common sense and on a simple principle: Security and life safety systems that are properly designed, installed by trained technicians using the finest equipment, monitored correctly and operated by trained users typically function without fault, failure or false alarms for years. .To achieve IQ Certification, security companies must voluntary abide by a rigid set of installation, service and maintenance standards, operating procedures and a code of ethics that set them above other alarm companies. These benchmarks include educating end users and system technicians.
