The Irish Writers' Union was set up to provide advice, guidance and support to writers in Ireland. \Our main goal is to achieve better remuneration for writers and to advance the cause of writing as a profession and form of work. We welcome all writers who wish to become a member of the Union, both established writers and as those just starting out.\The Union works on behalf of Irish writers to ensure that the rights of the author are protected. Sometimes things can go wrong between writers and their publishers and if this happens, we are there to support the writer and assist them in disputes. We offer a model contract for guidance to members and act as a watchdog, on both contracts and royalty payments to ensure that writers are treated fairly.
