Hospital & Health Care - , New Jersey, United States
The Ironbound Ambulance Squad was formed in 1952 by a group of Ironbound residents who wanted to decrease the response time for ambulances to emergency calls in the tight and narrow streets of the Ironbound Section of Newark. Throughout the years, Ironbound Ambulance Squad has evolved into a vital public safety organization. We provide emergency medical services to the residents of the East Ward, also known as the Ironbound, of Newark, NJ. Our areas of responsibility include Route 21 (McCarter Highway), Routes 1 & 9, the Pulaski Skyway, the Newark lines of Route 22 and Route 78, and the New Jersey Turnpike. The Ironbound section of Newark lies between these major junctions and forms our primary service area which is also the most populous section of Newark. Our ambulances are fully equipped to provide Basic Life Support (BLS). All of our ambulances are dispatched through the Regional Emergency Medical Communication System (REMCS) located at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Our patients are transported to local area hospitals within the Newark area.
