IRR-IP is the first Insolvency Professional Entity which is formed and licensed by the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) under Regulation 12 of Insolvency Professionals Regulations, 2016 in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 196, 207 and 208 read with section 240 of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC).The new Code deals with insolvency and bankruptcy of companies, limited liability partnerships, individuals and partnership firms. This Code has repealed archaic laws and amend many legislations notable being Sick Industrial Companies (Special Provisions) Act, 1985 and the Companies Act 2013 and other enactments like Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993 (RDB Act) and the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002 (SARFAESI).IRR-IP was incorporated on 7th February, 2017 and promoted by Mr. Alok Dhir & Mr. Nilesh Sharma, who are veterans in providing legal, commercial and financial advisory to corporate entities in distress, Banks/Financial Institutions/Bondholders/Lenders and other stakeholders related to such entities, and formulating plans for their revival. Mr. Alok Dhir is the Founder and Managing Partner and Mr. Nilesh Sharma is the Senior Partner of Dhir & Dhir Associates, a well-established law firm which is rated as the top law firm in India relating to Insolvency & Bankruptcy laws. Both of them have been consistently recognized as the leading lawyers for ‘Restructuring & Insolvency' in the country by most globally accredited rankings for legal services. They are also one of the first few Insolvency Professionals registered under the new Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code 2016.
