Irving ISD is the public PreK-12 school district of choice for 33,000+ students in Irving, Texas, where educators help students excel and reach their maximum potential. Irving ISD operates 38 educational facilities. Schools: 3 early childhood schools (PreK) 20 elementary schools (K-5) 8 middle schools (6-8) 5 high schools (9-12) Other Educational Facilities: Student Reassignment Center Ratteree Career Development Center Elise Walker Outdoor Learning Center Robert Scott Pohl Planetarium Support Facilities: Administration Building Administrative Annex Facilities Services Center Food and Nutrition Hands-on Science Center Irving Schools Stadium Special Education Annex Irving ISD Pursues Designation as District of Innovation: To maximize potential for all Irving ISD students, the District of Innovation process was initiated by the Irving ISD Board of Trustees. It was determined that the students of Irving ISD could potentially benefit from the flexibilities offered through a locally-developed District of Innovation Plan. District of Innovation (DoI) is a concept passed by the 84th Texas Legislature set forth in House Bill 1842, that gives traditional independent school districts most of the flexibilities available to Texas open enrollment charter schools. To access these flexibilities, a school district must adopt a DoI Plan, as set forth in the Texas Education Code Chapter 12A. With this year's Accountability Ratings, TEA reports 70% of Irving ISD campuses have earned top letter grades. Superintendent Hernandez says the accomplishments of the district have been noticed as, "This is a testament to the hard work of our students, the commitment of our teachers and the invaluable support of all staff."
