ISBA - International Short Break Association Details
The ISBA (International Short Break Association) is an initiative of several agencies and organizations worldwide providing health care and respite services for families concerned with disabilities. The essence of their work is to offer help directly and immediately to their clients and always focused on the idea of inclusion. The term "Short Break" describes one of the intentions of these offers ("I need a short break!") and is the international meaning for "Familienunterstützende Dienste" (Germany), in USA and Canada also described as Respite Care.Every 2 years an international congress is being organized by the Committee of ISBA. Hostíng countries so far: Thunder Bay, Canada (1995), Canterbury, England (1999), Sydney, Australia (2001), Orlando, USA (2003), Paris, France (2006), Copenhagen, Denmark (2008), Galway, Ireland (2010), Toronto, Canada (2012).
