Isla Mar Research Expeditions (Isla Mar) is primarily a field course coordination company, located on the US Caribbean paradise of Puerto Rico. We partner with universities, schools or other science-driven organizations to create a field-based experiential travel program for students or citizen scientists. We focus on marine/terrestrial biology and ecology of island systems. Students receive hands-on training in field sampling techniques and scientific diving. Aside from the educational component, we also coordinate island excursions for a full, immersive experience of the natural and cultural beauty of Puerto Rico. See our website for more details. We are active researchers and participate in Puerto Rico-wide/Caribbean-wide projects ranging from shark population monitoring, invasive species management, passive acoustic monitoring of commercially important fisheries, coral reef health assessments and impacts of industry on marine ecosystems. Isla Mar is open to collaboration in research and willing to travel.
