IT Heavy Hitters is an annual charity boxing event, taking IT professionals out of their chairs and into the ring. The events run as a fundraiser for The Key to Life Charitable Trust, following the 2013 suicide of Upper Hutt boxing coach Doug McLay. IT Heavy Hitters came on to the scene to raise awareness of suicide as a problem in New Zealand, as well as raising much needed funds for a charity working on reducing the number of suicides in NZ to zero, the only acceptable number.
