ITS4RK was born out of the conviction that providing access to computers and IT skills in rural parts of Kenya would open up possibilities for people in these regions, especially youth and women. It's a first step in bringing these segments of society closer to being able to be part of the larger workforce, without having to move to urban areas, and contribute to educational and creative endeavors. Our goal is to open 100+ centers in Kenya. These will be run locally and coordination will happen from both Nairobi and the UK. We envision the centers also hosting educational efforts in the health and social sphere; these will benefit the youth and women in particular. Local coordination in Kenya is joint with a youth organization Model ITU which is a youth empowerment initiative registered by the government of Kenya formed as a follow up project of the International Telecommunication Union 2008 Youth Forum held in Cairo, Egypt.
