Ithaka House is committed to providing lovers of fine fabric the opportunity to own lengths or finished products using materials produced exclusively by The Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company Ltd in Sudbury, Suffolk, England.The Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company was founded in 1903 by Reginald Warner, a direct descendant of the Flemish silk weavers who emigrated to Suffolk from Flanders in the 17th century and revived a tradition of producing fine textiles dating to the Late Middle Ages.The Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company are holders of a Royal Warrant. Their fabrics hang in Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle and the Sandringham Estate.Other well-known clients include: 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament, The National Gallery, The Ashmolean Museum, The Tate Gallery and The Goring Hotel. Gainsborough fabrics can also be seen in the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, and in the 1995 film adaptation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."
