I.V.I.O. stands for "Intergemeentelijke vereniging voor duurzaam milieubeheer voor Izegem en Ommeland", which is a grouping of 11 municipalities in the West of Flanders(Ardooie, Dentergem, Ingelmunster, Izegem Ledegem, Lendelede, Meulebeke, Oostrozebeke, Pittem, Ruiselede and Tielt) and the private partner ‘Ecowest' (cooperation of the companies Dekeyser, Indaver en Sita) and which was founded on the 1st of april 1997. The provison of services of I.V.I.O. reaches over 123.000 inhabitants. I.V.I.O. guarantees the collection of selected fraction door to door, the operation of 10 recycling parks and the sale and commercialisation of the collected waste flows. I.V.I.O. sets as a primal objective the prevention of waste, so less waste needs to be collected and treated.
