Arts & Crafts - Amman, Amman Governorate, Jordan
Jadal is an initiative that offers an open space, where cultural activities and knowledge sharing fuse for new societal values to emerge and spread. The project aims at encouraging creativity, innovation and collective activities benefiting the community around it and the society, as well as raising awareness about human identity and environment related causes. It is also a space for sharing skills and experiences, critical discussions, reflections and artistic expression. Jadal is a financially independent project that generates its income through its activities. It aims at establishing a horizontal management model, believing that it is a better alternative to the common hierarchical ones. Jadal was established in Downtown Amman in the end of 2012 as a personal initiative. The space is situated in one of the old houses in town, loved for its unique architecture, dating back to 1933, located on al Kalha stairs, connecting Downtown and Jabal L'Webde. The venue contains several areas: a gallery, a reading area, as well as other areas, where concerts, discussions, informal meetings, talks, and workshops are organised. In addition to these activities, Jadal offers various language courses, including Arabic with Cultural Dimension for foreigners.
