Jain Malkin retired and closed the business as it formerly existed in 2012. Since then she has accepted consulting opportunities of unusual interest having the potential to be evidence-based and the commitment by owner and/or healthcare organization leadership for quality and value. Contact Jain by email: jmalkin@jainmalkin.com. Jain's latest book was published August 2014 by John Wiley: the 4th edition of Medical and Dental Space Planning: A Comprehensive Guide to Design, Equipment and Clinical Procedures, available through Amazon and elsewhere. Note: After purchasing the book, one must visit Wiley.com to download the very valuable medical and dental space planning questionnaires. The publisher forgot to put this message anywhere in the book.As an innovator in the field of interior architecture for healthcare, Jain's book, A Visual Reference for Evidence-based Design, was the first book written on this topic. The design of "healing environments" quickly became an industry buzzword after publication of Jain's book, Hospital Interior Architecture, in 1992, which promoted the concept of research-based design. She has guided thousands of designers through her books, articles, lectures, and seminars to design better patient experiences. The design of healthcare facilities evolves and adapts to ever-changing advances in technology, sustainability, organizational culture and performance, but one must never forget that patients are the primary focus. When translating a client's vision into a supportive environment that produces positive outcomes on many levels, a true "healing environment" has been created.
