Jal Bhagirathi Foundation is driven by a vision of water security, sustained by responsive governance and inclusive growth, leading to sustainable development. JBF exists to provide an enabling environment in which the desert communities of the Marwar region can access adequate drinking water for humans and animals/livestock within the constraints of environmental equilibrium by leveraging traditional knowledge and appropriate technology facilitating village institutions of collective wisdom and building local capacities for community mobilization in an atmosphere of transparency, participation, and accountability, through a process of networking and advocacy. Recent Awards and accolades. • Awarded the global Daegu - Gyeonbuk Water Prize at the 7th World Water Forum organized in Korea from 12-17th April 2015 • The project titled "Water resource management for adaptation to climate change through community action in the Thar Desert, India" was adjudged 3rd in the UN "Water for Life" Best Practices Award, 2015 Edition, under the category "Best Water Management Practices".• Awarded the national level "Times of India Social Impact Award" for the year 2015 under the thematic area of Environment• Received the Best NGO award for promoting rainwater harvesting at the 7th UNESCO-Water Digest Awards on 16th February 2013.• Awarded the Sixth Dalmia Water and Conservation Award on 5th December 2012 in recognition of the work in water and environment conservation in Rajasthan. The State level award was given by the Governor of Rajasthan HE Margaret Alva.
