Non-Profit - Jamestown, NY, US
The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation (JRC) is a not-for-profit organization that came into being to support the implementation of the Urban Design Plan. Its primary role is to advocate for completion of that plan. The JRC has since recognized the positive economic climate from the synergy of a revitalized downtown and its city neighborhoods. As such, the organization will also work to implement the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. The JRC sees itself as the coordinating body that will "do what it takes" to ensure that the recommended initiatives in the plans come to fruition. At times this may mean convening interested parties, or helping to coordinate their efforts. The JRC also tries to remove barriers and obstacles and provide encouragement and support where and as needed. It works with governmental and non-governmental entities involved in aspects of the plans, helps to educate and inform the general public about the plans and tracks outcomes. The JRC is uniquely positioned to fill this role as "champion" of the plans since it is autonomous and committed. The board, which consists of major players in the implementation, will make every effort to meet with all interested parties to explain the plan and its importance.
