Central Otago photographer Janyne Fletcher has had a long connection with photography but she has been inspired to branch out from a traditional photography business to the area of creative fine art and landscape photography. Self taught, Janyne believes that Central Otago can be a harsh and uncompromising place but she enjoys the solitude, isolation and beauty. She endeavors to capture the different character and moods of the region in her own style. Recurring themes of story telling, graphical shapes and found objects are shown throughout Janyne's work. As a photographer she wants to do more than just document things but add life and layers to her photography. Janyne edits, prints and frames all of her own work and she regards this process of "playing" with different media, mounts and framing as an integral part of her creative process. Janyne's contemporary and creative approach to photography has earned her a number of awards in photography competitions. Her consistent approach to producing award winning photography has meant that she has been recognised with an Associateship with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers and a Fellowship with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers. In 2016 and 2017 she was named as a finalist for New Zealand Creative photographer of the year.Janyne sells her work from her workshop and gallery on the main street of Ranfurly, Central Otago which she operates in partnership with her fiancé Deane. This is very much a working gallery and an approachable but professional space that reflects her fairly relaxed approach to life and living in Central Otago.
