Nonprofit Organization Management - New York, New York, United States
Thousands of volunteers from over 180 colleges and universities, 800 companies and 20 countries have made a difference with JCorps Jewish Social volunteering. JCorps volunteers help feed the hungry in soup kitchens and food banks, entertain and comfort the lonely in senior centers and hospitals, mentor and inspire the young with tutoring, art, and sporting events, care for shelter animals, and help our cities bloom with urban renewal organizations.JCorps is non-religious, non-denominational, non-political "Social Volunteering™" and helps Jewish young adults connect and contribute to their communities -- to "Make Friends. Make a Difference". We pair diverse and dynamic groups of 15+ volunteers with organizations in their neighborhood. We have been recognized by the White House, NYC Mayor Bloomberg's Office, the Israeli Government, and over 100 publications. Our founder Ari Teman was named the "North American Jewish Community Hero of the Year" by the Jewish Federations of North America (chosen from over 400 candidates), and named to the Jewish Week's 36 Under 36.Invented by Ari Teman, Social Volunteering™ brings groups of volunteers to, "Make Friends. Make a Difference." Teman later expanded JCorps to WeCorps.Volunteers must be between the ages of 18 and 30. We do not discriminate based on religious denomination, gender, or background. Most of our volunteer opportunities take place on Sundays or week nights to avoid conflicts with volunteers' work or school obligations. We are happy to help supply organizations in our cities with volunteers. (Please note: we do not participate it any religious, political, or third-party fundraising activities.)More info: https://jcorps.org
