Jersey City Poetry Slam (JC Slam) is the only current Poetry Slam Inc. (PSI) certified Slam Poetry competition in northern New Jersey. The results of each competitive season form a 5 person team that competes in PSI's national competition. The top point scorer on this world renowned team will also represent Jersey City, JC Slam and themselves in the Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS).This all begun from a collective of writers, performers and organizers who's actions promote the love for self, others and the arts. Striving towards perfection in speech and deed. Built to educate, empower, encourage and entertain the world community!Hosted by Jersey City's own, Slam Master Benedicto "BrknInglsh" Figueroa, JC Slam is held on Fridays @ Grassroots Community Space, located at 54 Coles St, Jersey City NJ. Doors open at 9pm SHARP! The night begins with a brief open mic session that welcomes all forms of art and expression (5 minutes or less for each open mic performer).
