Jessi's Ride - A 15,000 mile National Journey for Cancer Patients and their Families\\Jessica Edwards Whiting waged a courageous and inspiring daily war against cancer. Sadly, she lost her battle in January 2014. Jessi had been in active cancer treatment continually for almost five years combating a particularly difficult and virulent form called Triple Negative Breast Cancer. The final battlefield was in her brain where the cancer metastasized in 2011 making things far more complicated and ultimately leading to her death. \\She was blessed with heartfelt faith and personal strength, a strong support network of family and friends, and a resilience that has led us to envision and create Jessi's RIde and US CANCER WARRIORS to help thousands of patients with cancer focus on treatment and their health, not their finances.\\Jessi's Ride is the high profile, long duration, athletic endeavor promoting US CANCER WARRIORS and the Advertising Sponsors of Jessi's Ride. It is an endurance challenge that, to our knowledge, has never been successfully completed; not by a man, a women, a couple, and certainly not by a cancer patient. \\In its original concept Jessi and her husband, Art, were to ride a tandem bicycle from the steps of the US Capitol in Washington, DC to the steps of the capitols of the 48 contiguous states and return one year later to the US Capitol and then down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House; a 15,000 mile journey. \\Unfortunately, with Jessi's passing, her dream to participate ended, but we will carry on with the mission and Art will do this same ride true to the original vision. It will still be completed using a tandem bike but with an empty back seat. This "Missing Woman Formation", symbolizes the loss of so many patients, their uncompleted dreams, and that patients are not the only people profoundly impacted by this disease. \\We will begin on January 22, 2015 and are scheduled to complete Jessi's Ride on October 29, 2015.
