Automotive - , New York, United States
The doors of Joe Bishop Auto Sales opened for the first time in June 1993. We decided to open our business in our hometown of Ontario, New York, wehere we had lived for the past 27 years. I wanted to have a family atmosphere and was thrilled when one of my three children joined me. We orginally shared a building with another dealer. Due to the increase volume of sales, we constructed a new building 1/2 mile down the street. When opening our business, we decided not to advertise; we felt that investing in our product through reconditioning, and then concentrating on customer satisfaction, before, during and - most importantly - after the sale would be successful. We developed a reconditioning checklist of over 126 items - not just inspectable items, but hoses, belts, radio speakers, etc. We encourage customers to take any of our vehicles to their own mechanics. Every vehicle has a window sticker, which includes functional, luxury, safety equipment, gas mileage, NADA book price, our price - and a reconditioning report of what we have done to the vehicle. We also run Carfax (history of the vehicle) on all vehicles. All of the information is available to every customer. We do not believe that pressuring a customer to make such an important decision is the best way to sell a vehicle. Our opinion is that, if you put out a good product at a fair price and give as much information to the customer about a particular vehicle as you have available, the vehicle will sell itself. After researching our records, we have found that 85% of our customer base is repeat or referral. That is the highest compliment. We thank everyone of our customers for taking part in the success of Joe Bishop Auto Sales. The best way to summarize the philosophy of Joe Bishop Auto Sales is to borrow a quote from one of our customers: 'You have a civilized approach to selling vehicles.' My family and I welcome the opportunity to serve you.
