JFDA was created under provisional law 31 of 2003 as an independent institution with the main aim to ensure the safety and validation of the food and drugs that reach the consumers in Jordan and that this goal can be achieved only through a strategy of integration and coordination of control activities on food and drug at local level. Hence, a permanent law 41 of 2008 has been passed.
