In the last decade the interior design industry has evolved from meaning just the decoration of internal spaces by decorators. Today, interior design holds a place in the formal education system with elaborate undergraduate programmes nurturing the brightest of minds in this segment. Yet the formally trained workforce entering the industry leaves much scope for niche skills and competency gaps to be addressed.For over 50 years, Jagdish Stores has been offering the best in home decor and furnishing. Utilising this unique repository of knowledge and experiences, the JS team have identified the need for a skilled workforce in India's design industry. Born from this was also an urgent need to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional success, and so Jagdish Khandelwal (Founder, Jagdish Store) in partnership with Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha (founder of world class institutions like Indian School of Business and Ashoka University) established The JS Institute of Design in 2019. Aimed at creating a design professional who is not merely skilled but also equipped to thrive in the 21st century workplace, the JS Institute of Design will provide an immersive experience that upskills its students with effective written, verbal, visual and strategic communication skills.The JS Institute of Design offers an innovative18-month Interior Design certificate programme, with a curriculum that blends the best of contemporary design education and industry-focused hands-on learning. Students will be trained by inspiring educators from across the world as well as have a steady interface with professional life through project-based learning. A dedicated six-month internship with leading organisations will provide exposure to cutting-edge industry trends and consistent mentoring from senior leaders.
