The Junior League of Olympia is a group of approximately 200 dedicated women in the Olympia area who are united by a common desire to serve the community and learn effective ways to make a difference, all while making friends and networking. JLO is just one of more than 300 Junior Leagues across the United States and Canada that make up the Association of Junior Leagues International. The Olympia group began as a Junior Service League in 1987 and became a full-fledged Junior League by April 1993-- completing its membership requirements more quickly than any other AJLI league on record.What We DoOur MissionThe Junior League of Olympia (JLO) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Our Vision: Women Leading Thurston County in Collaborative Community ChangeFocus area: The prevention of child abuse and neglect.JLO reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. We encourage women over the age of 21 to join us.Members of the Junior League of Olympia support each other in a three-pronged approach to community service and collaboration: Advocacy & Education; Community Projects; and Fundraising
