A spirited Mediterranean bistro in the heart of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Juniper offers creative, generously portioned plates filled with the "feel good flavors" signature to Eastern Mediterranean cuisine in an eclectic, colorfully adorned space. Helmed by Owner Dave Becker and Executive Chef Tim Fichera, Juniper's non-traditional menu borrows inspiration from the Eastern Mediterranean with a heavy emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and generous portions fit for sharing. House-made Mediterranean staples like pita bread, Red Pepper Muhammara and quinoa falafel are offered alongside local meat, fish and produce from a variety of purveyors close to Dave's heart (and stomach!). Similar to the unique handmade pastas at Sweet Basil, Juniper serves a selection of hand-rolled Israeli cous cous. Sweet Basil fans accustomed to toting their own bottles of red, white and bubbly at Sweet Basil can now let General Manager Phil McMullen do the picking and pouring at Juniper, where a funky wine selection consists of a wide variety of domestic grapes and of pours from Eastern Mediterranean regions like Israel, Greece and Lebanon, plus European bottles from France and Italy. Presented with cheeky Juniper-style tasting notes like "It's just wine, drink it!" and "A misunderstood grape," all wine offerings are affordably priced by-the-glass and bottle. Juniper's bar program has an emphasis on house-made cocktail components, quality local liquors, and fresh seasonal ingredients. A change from the strictly savory dining experience at Sweet Basil, Juniper continues the restaurant's Mediterranean focus with sweet signature treats like spiced date cakes and almond basbousa.
