Nonprofit Organization Management - Johnson City, Tennessee, United States
After visiting an animal shelter for the first time, Jurnee Carr noticed how overcrowded the living conditions were. She conducted research and learned the truth about what happens to animals when there isn't enough room for them in shelters. In that moment she knew she had to do something about it.She founded the Jurnee's Journey Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit, in 2007. Our mission is to provide support to local, national, and international animal rescue and welfare organizations through various fundraising efforts. We encourage the importance of adopting from a shelter, instead of breeding or buying from a breeder or pet store. Pet owners are also encouraged to spay or neuter their pets. We believe this will reduce unnecessary euthanasia occurring in shelters and communities around the world. The vision of Jurnee's Journey Foundation is to eliminate unnecessary breeding practices, and euthanasia in shelters. We provide ways for current and prospective pet parents to achieve these goals by encouraging adopting from a shelter and encouraging spay/neutering through education, and providing support through fundraising. Every animal deserves a loving, forever home!To date, we have raised over $52,000, and given it all back to over 40 rescues/shelters in 15 states and 3 countries.
