At JustListenED, we believe listening to students and parents is fundamental to creating an equitable school community and improving student outcomes. Thus, we offer the Breakthrough Student and Family Engagement Process which creates the connection and safety necessary for stakeholders to meaningfully engage in the decision making process. Through this work, a facilitator trained in the use of a structured interview we call SEERI, partners with the student and family to collaboratively design an intervention plan which capitalizes on the student's strengths and leverages what is truly needed to successfully navigate the system. The experience is designed to provide restorative and reflective opportunities focusing on ways (1) for everyone to be heard in a safe space (2) to build mutually respectful and trusting relationships that honor and value each person's humanity; and (3) change the trajectory of the student's educational experience.
