K-Lite Online is one of two webcast-only radio stations I own and program (the other being 95X Online). K-Lite Online broadcasts a soft, Adult Contemporary format. The station leans toward gold-based hits and a small group of conservative, current hits. There is less imaging than on a traditional broadcast station. The imaging that does exist is non-intrusive. The result is the listener hears at least three or four songs play without interruption.With little outside promotion, the station consistently logs a surprising number of live listeners at any given time.I put this station on the air in response to the growing number of broadcast Adult Contemporary stations that are naturally moving away from the 70s and 80s hits. Most songs here were hits on top 40 by artists who receive little airplay on today's Adult Contemporary stations. The mix includes country crossovers, R&B and pop songs, reminiscent of CHR stations this audience grew up with. It was designed for listeners who may enjoy some new artists but love hearing the older songs in a soft rock setting (as opposed to Classic Hits or Oldies.)While this format is slowly leaving the traditional broadcast medium, it can have a second life on the World Wide Web, due to low cost of operation and high density of traffic.The station adheres to general broadcast standards and is in compliance with ASCAP, BMI, Sound Exchange and SESAC.
