I have been training dogs for almost 30 years. I offer numerous classes of Dog Training from Puppy Training & Family Manners/Obedience through Advanced Obedience. I also offer classes & testing/evaluations as an AKC Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Evaluator including: AKC's Puppy S.T.A.R., Community Canine (CGCA) & CGC-Urban (CGCU). I am an AKC Trick Dog, Farm Dog Certification & Temperament Judge. I also offer classes for: Rally Obedience, Agility for Fun, Tricks, & Flyball for Fun. I am an honors graduate & mentor for The Animal Behavior College. I am a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). I was a member and Dog Trainer for 13+ years of the Nor Cal Dog Training Club (no longer exists). I was Petco Dog Trainer for 4+ years. I was a dog trainer at Shasta Dog Training and Boarding (offering Board & Train services as well as classes on premises) for 8+ years. I am still active in the Dog Training community and participate with the non-profit group Shasta Dogs. I have worked with several dog rescue groups & dog shelters in training/evaluating dogs, training foster dog parents, and fostering/rehabilitating rescue dogs. All of my dogs have earned a number of dog titles in a variety of dog sports & activities. I continue my education through online seminars/workshops, traveling to conferences, books, subscription/membership magazines, online email groups, etc. As a professional dog trainer, I have a balanced approach to dog training. I believe it is of utmost importance to keep current on the latest scientific evidence based learning theories in dog training. I train each dog taking into account breed traits, the dog's history of socialization & environment as well as my client's skills & expectations. I believe that each dog has their own unique temperament & personality, so I do not ascribe to a "one size fits all" method of training. I follow the LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) philosophy as outlined by APDT.
