Kairos Academy of Austin will be a K-8, tuition-free public charter school in Southwest Austin. Kairos Academy of Austin will offer a learning environment that supports a slower daily pace, values foundational skill building and life-long learning, and empowers families to develop their homes as spaces for active learning and growth. Mission: Kairos Academy of Austin is to develop a community of curious and critical thinkers who joyfully engage in learning, realize their full potential, and contribute to the world around them. Vision: Kairos Academy of Austin's students, families, and team members will establish and maintain a culture of guided collaboration through our holistic learning experience in a shortened school day. Small class sizes will allow our accomplished teachers to both model, nurture, and challenge individual students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Parents will be supported in their most important role as their child's cheerleader, advocate, and guide through the Home Learning Partnership.Projected Timeline:December 2014: Apply for 501(c)(3) federal tax exempt status as a Texas non-profit corporation. *Granted in April 2015January 2016: Kairos Academy of Austin will submit an application for consideration as Generation 21 Texas Public Charter School. Summer 2016: Kairos Academy of Austin will receive charter award notification. Fall 2017: When a Texas Open Enrollment Charter is granted, Kairos Academy of Austin will be open to students from kindergarten to 6th grade (adding one additional grade each year after that through 8th grade).
