Its literacy rate was 81.23 percent—84.88 percent for men and 77.76 percent for women. Kakinada covers an area of 192.3 square kilometres (74.2 sq mi).Kakinada is part of a Special Economic Zone and a proposed Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR).
