Arts and Crafts - N/A, N/A, us
When a group of frequent collaborators founded Kamratōn in 2015, we strived to offer something vital and original to Pittsburgh's new music community, and we've developed an aesthetic and a practice that is both experimental and collaborative. We are committed to presenting women-created and women-curated new music in regular programming and through our annual She Scores series. Our first five seasons have featured premieres of new works by 32 composers, including a fully staged operatic production, Her Holiness, The Winter Dog, presented in collaboration with Quince Ensemble, Shana Simmons Dance, and The New Hazlett Theatre's Community Supported Arts Performance Series. Our current season features the premiere of Erin Roger's On View, commissioned with an award from the Barlow Endowments, the first She Scores festival, and performances by guest artists Mazumal (Olivia J.P. Harris and Felicia Chen), Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, Michele Cheng, Erin Rogers, and Gilda Lyons.
