The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) was established in 1973, originally as Social and Rehabilitation Services or SRS, as an umbrella agency to oversee the delivery of social services and the provision of care to the vulnerable. Reorganized in 2012, the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) was formed July 1, 2012 through the Governor's Executive Reorganization Order Number 41.Today, DCF serves more than 500,000 Kansans and manages a wide range of services to vulnerable Kansans in partners with local organizations to deliver various supports for families to include Children and Adult Protective Services, Adoption Services, Foster Care Support, Welfare and Food Assistance Programs, as well as services dedicated to Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
